20 years of urban development in the EU<\/strong><\/em> – this is the title of a professional conference organised by the Association of Hungarian Local Governments in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development and the Development Policy Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) on Tuesday, 7 May 2024, from 10 am<\/strong> at the Baroque Theatre of the Royal Castle of G\u00f6d\u00f6ll\u0151.<\/p>\n

The conference – linked to the Hungarian Economic Association’s series of events evaluating the results and experiences of our two decades of EU membership – aims to contribute to the implementation of the renewed Hungarian spatial and urban development strategy, the development of good practices, and the reassessment of the development complexity of cities, urban areas and functional regions.<\/p>\n

The introductory speeches of the conference will be held by Tibor Navracsics<\/strong>, Minister of Public Administration and Spatial Development; Gy\u00f6rgy G\u00e9mesi<\/strong>, Mayor of G\u00f6d\u00f6ll\u0151, President of the Association of Hungarian Local Governments; Gergely Kar\u00e1csony<\/strong>, Mayor of Budapest and Andr\u00e1s Cser-Palkovics<\/strong>, Mayor of Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r. The participants will be welcomed by M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Maksi<\/strong>, Deputy Head of the European Commission’s Representation to Hungary and Michael Winzer<\/strong>, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’s Representation.<\/p>\n

The participants of the panel discussion following the keynote speeches are: \u00c9va Heged\u00fcs<\/strong>, President and CEO of GR\u00c1NIT Bank Zrt., Secretary General of the HEA; G\u00e9za Salamin<\/strong>, President of the Hungarian Urban Society, Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Geography and Urban Development of the Corvinus University; Istv\u00e1n Szab\u00f3<\/strong>, Deputy Director General for Strategy and Innovation of the HUN-REN research network, President of the Innovation Section of the HEA and Vikt\u00f3ria Szirmai<\/strong>, Sz\u00e9chenyi Prize-winning sociologist, university professor, Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The discussion will be moderated by Etele Bar\u00e1th<\/strong>, former Minister for European Affairs and President of the Development Policy Section of HEA.<\/p>\n
