The September 2026 issue of the Financial and Economic Review<\/em> features a study by Harold James<\/em> and Marzenna James<\/em>, faculty members at Princeton University, entitled The Mermaid with the Sword: Poland\u2019s Search for Monetary Stability and Military Security through Gold<\/a>. In connection with this article, the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) and the Financial and Economic Review<\/em> are organising a hybrid panel discussion on Monday, 19 October 2026, at 2:00 p.m.<\/strong> at the MNB Te\u00e1trum Conference Centre (1054 Budapest, 8\u20139 Szabads\u00e1g Square) and on the HEA YouTube channel<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the beginning of the event, Barnab\u00e1s Vir\u00e1g<\/strong>, Chief Advisor to the Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB), Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Financial and Economic Review<\/em>, and member of the Executive Board of the HEA\u2019s Competitiveness Section, will welcome participants and introduce the topic by summarising the study\u2019s key findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The subsequent panel discussion will feature Viktor Zsiday<\/strong>, investment expert and portfolio manager; P\u00e9ter Kolozsi<\/strong>, Professional Director at GKI Economic Research Co. and Associate Professor at the Ludovika University of Public Service (NUPS), as well as President of the HEA\u2019s Finance Section; Krist\u00f3f Juh\u00e1sz<\/strong>, Managing Director of Conclude Befektet\u00e9si Zrt.; and Bal\u00e1zs Mucsi<\/strong>, Head of Department at the MNB.
