The half-day programme of the European Union Section which was established in the spring of 2018, led by President Szabolcs Fazakas<\/strong>, featured presentations by Szabolcs Tak\u00e1cs<\/strong>, Secretary of State of the Prime Minister\u2019s Office for EU policy development and coordination on the current issues of the European Union, Gy\u00f6rgy Szap\u00e1ry<\/strong>, former ambassador, Chief Advisor to the Governor of the MNB on the clash of centripetal and centrifugal forces at EU level, G\u00e1bor Iv\u00e1n<\/strong>, head of General Policy Directorate, Council of the European Union on the current issues of the EU\u2019s new Multiannual Financial Framework, and L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Baranyay<\/strong>, member of Board, European Investment Bank and former vice president on the EIB\u2019s contribution to European and Hungarian economic development.<\/p>\n

As an important development for the Section, Imre Juh\u00e1sz<\/strong>, former foreign economic diplomat at the Hungarian Embassy in Berlin, who has been member of the Hungarian Economic Association for two decades, consented to undertake secretarial duties<\/strong> for the EU Section of HEA. The experiences gained by Imre Juh\u00e1sz in the field of diplomacy, commercial policy and foreign economy are expected to largely contribute to the further expansion of the Section\u2019s professional programmes.<\/p>\n

Preparations by the EU Section of the HEA are already in progress for its next professional event<\/strong> to take place in early October, in the framework of which P\u00e9ter Bal\u00e1s<\/strong>, former Deputy Director-General of DG Trade will provide an overview of the current issues of customs and trade policy in the EU<\/strong>.
