The J\u00e1sz-Nagykun-Szolnok County Organization of the Hungarian Economic Association assisted by former colleagues of the National Bank of Hungary is organizing a memorial celebration to honour the 100th anniversary of the birth of K\u00e1roly Tolna in Szolnok at the plaque displayed on the first floor of the Damjanich J\u00e1nos Museum on Thursday, 12 September from 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
K\u00e1roly Tolna (1919-2006) was an economist employed by the National Bank of Hungary for 36 years starting from 1948, during which period he was regional director in B\u00e9k\u00e9s and Szolnok counties for 32 years. Although he had already retired when the two-tier banking system was developed he worked as a professional consultant during the transitional period.\u00a0 During his time as bank director the National Bank of Hungary was responsible for financing every single economic operator in the county.\u00a0 He had a key role in the field of corporate development.<\/p>\n
K\u00e1roly Tolna was a founding member of the J\u00e1sz-Nagykun-Szolnok County Organization of the HEA, taking the position of Vice President, then Honorary President later on. His activity, expertise and authority proved to be essential in disseminating knowledge in economics and organizing professional public life.<\/p>\n
