The 59th Itinerant Conference of Economists with speakers including MNB Governor Gy\u00f6rgy Matolcsy, SAO President L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Domokos, professor Di\u00e1na \u00dcrge-Vorsatz, Vice Chair of UN IPCC Working Group III and Kaushik Basu, former World Bank Chief Economist, former President of the International Economic Association is due to begin in less than two months, on 23 September 2021. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Considering the pandemic related risks and uncertainties the Board of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) decided to organise the conference on 23-24 September 2021 in a hybrid format with live video streaming<\/b>, similar to last year. The programme will be accessible to members of the HEA and the interested audience via live stream on YouTube<\/strong><\/a> and Facebook<\/a><\/strong> free of charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be morning plenary sessions<\/strong> and two interactive panel discussions<\/strong> on both days. In addition to Gy\u00f6rgy Matolcsy<\/strong>, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Domokos, Di\u00e1na \u00dcrge-Vorsatz <\/strong>and Kaushik Basu<\/strong>, other confirmed speakers include Minister of Finance Mih\u00e1ly Varga<\/strong>, CEO of Magyar Telekom Tibor R\u00e9kasi<\/strong>, and Sz\u00e9chenyi Prize recipient Academic, University Professor P\u00e9ter Halmai<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The afternoon roundtables will be dedicated to current economic issues, particularly the effects of the pandemic and the directions of recovery. Again, there will be a Bank Chiefs\u2019 Roundtable, as well as other sessions on the labour market, macroeconomic and competitiveness impacts of COVID-19, and Europe\u2019s development funding priorities for 2021-2027, the latter promising to be especially exciting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Again, there will be some 20 thematic sections<\/strong> with presentations and roundtables that will be recorded late August – early September and made accessible at the website of the conference<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/a> and HEA\u2019s YouTube Channel<\/strong><\/a> at the start of the event. What is certain: there will be individual sections dedicated to the impacts of COVID-19 on the spatial structure of employment; the development strategic cooperation between Hungary and the EU in the post-crisis decade; and the technological vision of Hungary. Further discussions are planned on the experiences of the Tokyo Olympic Games involving one gold medalist, and the experiences and challenges of the introduction of the euro involving the deputy governors of six central banks from Central and Eastern Europe. <\/span><\/p>\n
