At the initiative of the Hungarian Economic Association, the Excellence Scholarship programme of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) is likely to be extended to students learning economics in Hungarian language at colleges and universities in Transylvania, Vojvodina and Upper Hungary, starting already from the autumn period.
Until now the scholarship has been available to approximately 500 economics students of Hungarian tertiary institutions annually. The central bank and the Pallas Athene Domus Educationis (PADE) Foundation will extend the programme to students learning economics in Hungarian language at colleges and universities in Transylvania, Vojvodina and Upper Hungary by way of assigning the HEA’s partner organisations in Romania, Slovakia and Vojvodina to manage the scholarship programme.
According to the MNB’s plans, the programme would be accessible to a total of approximately 100 economics students in Transylvania, Vojvodina and Upper Hungary, in a monthly amount equal to ca HUF 30,000.
The Education Directorate of MNB and colleagues from the PADE Foundation had a meeting in the HEA Community Centre on Thursday with senior officials of the foreign partner organisations including Pál Ciotlăuș, President of HEA in Romania, Márta Földi, President of HEA in Vojvodina, Tibor Matus, Executive of HEA in Slovakia, and Péter Csiba, Dean of Faculty of Economics, Selye János University.
