Rezső Nyers, 95 has died. He was an economist and politician, who helped to develop the New Economic Mechanism in 1968. He was former Vice President of the Hungarian Economic Association. He was member of the Economic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and director of the Institute of Economics of HAS from 1974, then he became scientific advisor of the Institute for seven years, from 1981. He became chairman of the editorial board of the journal Közgazdasági Szemle (Economic Review) in 1976.
Rezső Nyers joined the Hungarian Economic Association in 1958, and was Vice President of the HEA between 1983 and 1990.
He will always be remembered.
