The Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Organization of the Hungarian Economic Association assisted by former colleagues of the National Bank of Hungary is organizing a memorial celebration to honour the 100th anniversary of the birth of Károly Tolna in Szolnok at the plaque displayed on the first floor of the Damjanich János Museum on Thursday, 12 September from 2 p.m.

Károly Tolna (1919-2006) was an economist employed by the National Bank of Hungary for 36 years starting from 1948, during which period he was regional director in Békés and Szolnok counties for 32 years. Although he had already retired when the two-tier banking system was developed he worked as a professional consultant during the transitional period.  During his time as bank director the National Bank of Hungary was responsible for financing every single economic operator in the county.  He had a key role in the field of corporate development.

Károly Tolna was a founding member of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Organization of the HEA, taking the position of Vice President, then Honorary President later on. His activity, expertise and authority proved to be essential in disseminating knowledge in economics and organizing professional public life.
