Equity, Sustainability and Prosperity in a Fractured World will be the title of the 19th IEA World Congress on 2-6 July 2021 organised by the International Economic Association (IEA). The conference was to take place in Bali, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the IEA decided to hold the event in the online space, with the live presentations and panel discussions accessible to the Members of the Hungarian Economic Association free of charge, subject to prior registration.

The international conference will be implemented similarly to the HEA Itinerant Conference of Economists: the plenary sessions and panel discussions will be live streamed via Zoom, and the section meetings will be pre-recorded and published at the World Congress website at the start of the conference.

The conference will focus on the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and monetary policy; fiscal and development policies in the post-neoliberal world; the causes and consequences of China’s rise; as well as the UN 2020 Human Development Report. The speakers will include some of the best-known economists of the world such as Nobel Memorial Prize recipient Joseph Stiglitz and Erik Maskin, and President Elect of the IEA Dani Rodrik.

The online plenary sessions and thematic panel discussions of the conference will be accessible free of charge, subject to prior registration.
