The Itinerant Congresses of the Hungarian Economists are celebrations of the profession, so they are also an excellent opportunity for the Hungarian Economic Association to recognise the achievements of its fellow economists who have performed to a high standard. In accordance with the decision of the HEA’s Board, two awards were presented at this year’s congress in Szeged by Gyula Pleschinger, President of the HEA, and Éva Hegedüs, Secretary General of the Association.
József Bagó, sociologist, labour economist and senior advisor to the Minister of the Interior, was awarded the Economist Grand Prize by the Presidium of the Hungarian Economic Association in recognition of his many years of exemplary, active work as President of the Labour Section of the HEA.
The Presidium awarded the Association’s highest honour, the Economist’s Lifetime Achievement Award, to Professor Magdolna Csath, Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, former member of the National Competitiveness Council, and member of the Board of the Competitiveness and IT Sections of the HEA, in recognition of her decades of academic teaching and research on competitiveness.
