The Hungarian Economic Association, together with its organizing partners – the Czech INEV, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, the Corvinus University of Budapest, the Money Museum, the Pénziránytű Foundation and the Budapest Institute of Banking Zrt. – will organize the Economics Olympiad in the academic year 2022-23. The competition is open to students from secondary schools from all over the country. The deadline for applications is Monday 31 January 2023, midnight! To register, please use the form available at https://forms.gle/omHd7ZFA6juu9EKK7.

The competition will start with a written online round between 20 and 24 February 2023, and at the end of March or beginning of April 2023, students will compete in a two-round national final – written and oral – in Budapest or online. The best students from the national final are expected to compete in an English-language international final in September 2023 against their Czech, Polish, Slovak, Greek and Chinese counterparts – and the Czech organisers promise to expand the list of participating nations even further! (Last year’s international final was hosted by Budapest.) The best national and international finalists will of course win valuable prizes. As a mark of the prestige of the event, the main patron of the 2020 International Final was Nobel Prize-winning economist Tom Sargent, who sent a special video message to welcome the finalists, and last year’s International Final was addressed by Dani Rodrik, Professor at Harvard University and President of the International Economics Association.

More information about the competition can be found on the website (https://kozgazdasagiolimpia.hu/) and Facebook (https://fb.com/kozgazdasagiolimpia) and on the website of the Hungarian Economic Association (https://www.mkt.hu/).
