Inflation shocks and disinflation: stylised facts over the past 50 years. This is the title of a paper by Balázs Spéder and Balázs Vonnák, colleagues at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank and János Neumann University, published in the September issue of the Financial and Economic Review. In connection with the study, the Hungarian Economic Association and the Financial and Economic Review are organizing a professional discussion – in hybrid form – on Thursday, 19 October 2023, at 14:00 at the MNB’s Supervisory Centre conference room (1122 Budapest, Krisztina krt. 6, 3rd floor) and on the HEA’s YouTube channel.

The event will start with a welcome speech by Barnabás Virág, Deputy Governor of the MNB and Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Credit Institutions Review, followed by an introductory presentation by one of the authors, Balázs Vonnák, leading education and research expert of the MNB and Associate Professor at the Neumann János University. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Géza Sebestyén, Head of the Economic Policy Workshop at the MCC and Gábor Regős, Senior Economist at the Macronome Institute. The discussion will be moderated by András Balatoni, Director of the MNB.
