Global Trends and Levels of Intervention – this is the title of an online roundtable discussion on the relationship between GDP growth and declining fertility organised by the Demographic Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) on Monday, 12 May 2025, from 2 pm on Webex and on the HEA’s YouTube channel. The discussion is the first in a series of eight professional events. The series is the result of a series of 100 articles published in the Magyar Hírlap in recent months under the title “Breakout points from the demographic crisis”.
The invited speakers are Péter Asztalos, Economist Expert of the MNB; Péter Tóth Pál, demographer, PhD, Member of the Board of the Demographic Section of the HEA; Iván Platthy, retired State Secretary and Antal Kiss, theologian. The discussion will be moderated by János I. Tóth, philosopher, demographer, habilitated associate professor at the University of Szeged, member of the Section’s Board.
