Mihály Varga, Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, Márton Nagy, Minister for National Economy, Tibor Navracsics, Minister for Public Administration and Regional Development, as well as the Presidents of the Fiscal Council, the State Audit Office and KAVOSZ have already confirmed their participation in the 63rd Itinerant Congress of Economists. The Hungarian Economic Association will hold the largest annual conference of the domestic economics profession on September 4-5, 2025, at the University of Pannonia in Veszprém.
Similar to previous years’ conferences, this year’s event will feature two plenary sessions and 16 on-site sections, which we hope will attract an audience of around 600-700 people. In addition to a general analysis of the Hungarian economy, the plenary presentations and sections of the conference will reflect on challenges such as the economic consequences of increasingly worrying geopolitical processes; the impact of the Trump administration’s tariff and trade policies on the global economy and Hungarian companies; the challenges posed by artificial intelligence; and the tasks associated with climate adaptation. This year, there will again be a roundtable discussion with bank executives and a forum for macroeconomic analysts, and a separate section will deal with the labor market challenges of governmental industrial policy and supply chain disruptions, while three Olympic champions will be honored in Veszprém in the sports economy section. In addition to the on-site sections, 5-7 pre-recorded sections will enrich the conference again this year. The continuously updated and expanding program of the conference is available at this link.
Participation fees for the 63rd Itinerant Congress of Economists are not expected to increase compared to last year and the year before – more detailed information will be available on the event’s website in a few days. The recommended hotels can also be found there and can already be booked, with a coupon code offering discounted room rates for guests of the conference. Registration for the conference is expected to open in early July.
We recommend that our members and anyone interested keep an eye on the event website at https://kozgazdasz-vandorgyules.blog.hu/ for the latest information about the conference!
