The Hungarian Economic Association, together with its organizing partners, will once again hold the Economics Olympiad in the 2025–26 academic year. We welcome applications from students enrolled in secondary education institutions from all parts of the country. Registration is available via the form at https://forms.gle/XHqZ3QMSx9aspccK9. The application deadline is Saturday, January 31, 2026, at midnight!
The competition will begin with a written, online round between February 16 and 20, 2025, and at the end of March the best performers from the first round will compete in a two-round – written and oral – national final in Budapest to test their knowledge of economics. The most successful students at the national final will have the opportunity to compete in an English-language international final in Olympia, Greece, between August 10 and 14, 2026! The top performers at both the national and international finals will, of course, receive valuable prizes. The prestige of the event is demonstrated by the fact that the patron of the 2020 international final was Nobel Prize–winning economist Tom Sargent, who greeted the finalists in a special video message. Attention! At many Hungarian universities’ faculties of economics, achieving 1st–3rd place in the international final of the Economics Student Olympiad earns additional points in the admissions process!
