Labour Market Situation in the Hungarian–Slovak Border Region — under this title, the Labour Section of the HEA is organizing an online professional conference on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 2:00 PM, streamed via Webex and the HEA’s YouTube channel. The event is based on the study by Bence Varga, published this February in the journal Területi Statisztika, titled Labour Market Situation in Peripheral Hungarian–Slovak Border Regions, 2001–2023.
The main findings of the study will be presented by the author, Bence Varga, PhD student at the Department of Regional Science, Faculty of Science, Eötvös Loránd University. Invited discussants: Katalin Lipták, Associate Professor and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Miskolc; István Balcsók, Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Debrecen; and Mátyás Jaschitz, Director of the Central European Service for Cross-Border Initiatives (CESCI). Moderator: Márton Czirfusz, co-founder of the Periféria Policy and Research Center and member of the executive board of the HEA Labour Section.
