How Long Can Dollar Dominance Last?

A study by Massimiliano Castelli, Managing Director at UBS Asset Management and Head of Strategy and Advisory for Sovereign Institutions, entitled Dollar Dominance in the Global Financial System: Dissatisfaction without Displacement, will be published in the June 2026 issue of Financial and Economic Review. In connection with this article, the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA), its Monetary Policy Section, and Financial and Economic Review will host an English-language panel discussion in a hybrid format on Monday, 29 June 2026, starting at 3:30 p.m. at the MNB Teátrum Conference Centre (1054 Budapest, Szabadság tér 8–9) and online via the HEA YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfTcrY66Yy8.

The event will open with welcoming remarks by Barnabás Virág, Chief Advisor to the Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB), Chairman of the Editorial Board of Financial and Economic Review, and Member of the Executive Board of the HEA Competitiveness Section. This will be followed by a brief presentation by the author highlighting the key conclusions of his paper. The participants in the panel discussion following the introductory presentation will be Massimiliano Castelli and Gábor Horváth, Senior Economic Expert at the MNB. The discussion will be moderated by Ádám Banai, Executive Director of the MNB, Editor-in-Chief of Financial and Economic Review, and Co-Chair of the HEA Monetary Policy Section.

Due to the venue’s seating capacity, in-person attendance at the event is subject to prior registration. Please note that registrations can only be accepted up to the capacity of the venue. Only those who receive a confirmation of their registration will be able to attend the event in person.
