Registration for the 64th Itinerant Congress of Economists has entered the home stretch – interested participants have just one week left to register for the Hungarian economic profession’s largest annual conference! The detailed on-site programme is now complete, and nearly 600 people have already registered, but accommodation is still available for the event. So don’t delay your registration!
A rich and exciting professional programme awaits participants on September 10–11 in Eger at the 64th Itinerant Congress of Economists. The conference’s approximately 110 speakers will share their thoughts with the audience in 16 on-site and five pre-recorded sessions. Among the speakers will be Mihály Varga, Governor of the central bank, András Kármán, Minister for Finance, two state secretaries and four deputy state secretaries, two deputy governors of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, the presidents of the Fiscal Council, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), KAVOSZ and the Joint Venture Association, the CEOs of the Hungarian Government Debt Management Agency and five banks, two Olympic champions, two former European Commissioners, and renowned economists such as Péter Halmai, Gábor Oblath, Zoltán Pogátsa, Péter Oszkó, Péter Ákos Bod and Magdolna Csath.
This year’s Itinerant Congress of Economists will focus on the most important challenges facing the Hungarian economy and economic policy-making. Several sessions will address the risks and opportunities associated with the use of artificial intelligence, with particular attention paid to the situation of public finances and the budget, EU funds, the labour market, innovation and competitiveness, the banking system, as well as the turbulent geopolitical and global economic environment. In addition, two panels during the two-day conference will focus on the introduction of the euro in Hungary.
This year, the conference’s opening plenary session and selected sessions will once again be streamed live on the Hungarian Economic Association’s YouTube channel and on the conference website. Recordings of the Congress’s five pre-recorded sessions will be made available on the website and YouTube on the morning of September 10, at the start of the conference. According to our plans, the remaining on-site sessions will be available to watch back on the conference website during the week following the Congress.
