Hungarian Euro – An International Perspective. Under this title, the HEA’s Monetary Policy Section and European Union Section will hold a professional roundtable discussion on Monday, September 21, 2026, starting at 2:00 p.m. The event will take place in the Rector’s Council Room 2001 in the main building of Corvinus University of Budapest (1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 8).

The discussion will be led by Előd Takáts, Deputy Secretary General of the Committee on the Global Financial System at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), Rector Emeritus of Corvinus University of Budapest, and President of the HEA’s Monetary Policy Section. The participants of the roundtable will be Balázs Égert, Chief Economist at the OECD; Éva Palócz, CEO of Kopint-Tárki Zrt. and Vice President of the HEA; and Roland Straub, Director General responsible for Monetary Policy at the European Central Bank (ECB). Gábor Iván, Director at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union and President of the HEA’s European Union Section, will also contribute as moderator.
