The December issue of the Financial and Economic Review focused on environmental sustainability and the green transformation of the economy and finance. The Hungarian Economic Association and the Financial and Economic Review will organise a panel discussion on three of the papers published in the volume – in hybrid form – on Thursday, 26 January 2023, from 14:00 at the Supervisory Conference Centre of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) at Krisztina körút 6, Budapest, and the event will be streamed live on the HEA’s YouTube channel.

The three featured papers are:
Pál Péter Kolozsi – Balázs István Horváth – Judit Csutiné Baranyai – Veronika Tengely: Monetary Policy and the Green Transition
Gábor Hajnal – Alexandr Maxim Palicz – Sándor Winkler: The impact of energy rating on supply-side house prices and lending rates
Gábor Szigel: Carbon intensity of bank loan portfolios in lower income countries – a good basis for comparison?

At the beginning of the event, Barnabás Virág, Deputy Governor of the MNB, Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Financial and Economic Institutions Review, will welcome the participants, followed by a short introductory presentation of the authors’ papers by Péter Kolozsi, Director of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, Associate Professor at the Centre for Sustainable Finance of the MNB Knowledge Centre, Neumann János University; Sándor Winkler, Head of the MNB’s Department and Gábor Szigel, Senior Advisor at OTP Bank Nyrt. This will be followed by a panel discussion with the authors. The discussion will be moderated by Csaba Kandrács, Deputy Governor of the MNB.

In view of the capacity of the room, personal participation in the event is strictly subject to prior registration. Interested parties are kindly requested to register in advance at hitelintezetiszemle@mnb.hu by 14:00 on Tuesday, 24 January 2023 at the latest. Registrations will only be accepted up to the capacity of the venue.
