Twenty years in the EU’s Single Market – this is the title of an online conference organised by the Hungarian Economic Association’s Trade Section on Monday, 8 January 2024, from 14:30 on Webex and on the MKT’s YouTube channel. The event is part of a year-long series of conferences in which MKT’s sections will review the experiences and achievements of Hungary’s two decades of EU membership.
Orsolya Nyeste, Senior Analyst at Erste Bank, and Tamás Kozák, Associate Professor at the Budapest University of Economics and President of the Trade Section of HEA, will give introductory presentations. In addition to the two speakers, the participants of the round table discussion following the keynote speeches will be Péter Balás, ret. Ambassador, former Head of Hungary’s Permanent Representation to the WTO, former Deputy Head of the European Commission’s DG Trade, and Balázs Ferkelt, Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations of the BGE, Member of the Board of the International Economics Section of the HEA. The discussion will be moderated by Iván György Neszmélyi, Professor at Milton Friedman University. The participants will be welcomed by Etele Baráth, former Minister for European Affairs, President of the Development Policy Section of the MKT and former member of the European Economic and Social Committee.
