Regional centres and urban development – 20 years of territorial development in the EU. This is the title of the conference organised on Thursday, 9 May, 9 am at the MTA SZAB headquarters (Szeged, Somogyi utca 7.), in connection with the HEA’s series of events to commemorate 20 years of EU membership.

The organisers believe that on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of accession, it is worth reviewing the practical implementation of the EU’s territorial development policy, with a special focus on the development achievements of Hungarian regional centres – the so-called pole cities. In this context, it is important to (re)assess the changes of emphasis in the planning and development of the city and its surroundings, and to discuss the challenges of today: the social processes of settlement, the housing conditions of the city and its surroundings, the shaping of the urban built environment, community planning, the green transition and global impacts.

Participation is free of charge, but pre-registration is required! To register, please visit https://forms.gle/JDyfbADmMEzsdSCWA, where the organisers also welcome applications for session speakers.
