‘The place and role of business economic studies in tertiary business administration programmes’ will be the title of a workshop discussion session on the occasion of publishing the 7th edition of Attila Chikán’s book ‘Business Economics’, jointly organised by lecturers of the Institute of Business Economics of Corvinus University with researchers of the HEA IX Industry and Business Economics Subcommittee and specialists of the HEA Industry and Entrepreneurship Section in Room C102 of the Közraktár Street building of Corvinus University (Budapest IX., Közraktár utca 4-6.), starting at 11 am on Tuesday, 30 May 2017.

The first edition of the book ‘Business Economics’ written by Attila Chikán was published in 1989, to be subsequently reedited six times. The book was originally published simultaneously with the introduction of Business Economics as a subject under contemporary educational reforms, and is still a fundamental subject of tertiary economics programmes at the Corvinus University of Budapest.

The opening session of the event will be delivered by Erzsébet Czakó, head of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Section of the HEA, under the title ‘Business Economics in the educational programmes of Corvinus University’. After the opening session the 2017 edition of the book will be presented by the author, Attila Chikán. Finally, a discussion will be held under the title ‘Is Business Economics as a subject necessary? A domestic review’. The discussion will be moderated by László Szerb.
