Péter Benő Banai, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Economy for public finances, vice president of the Public Finance Section of the Hungarian Economic Association received this year’s Sándor Popovics Prize, an award named for the first governor of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) in recognition of his outstanding professional work in the field of economy and finance. The prize was presented by György Matolcsy, Governor of MNB at the Gala of the 5th ‘Lámfalussy Lectures’ professional conference.
Péter Benő Banai has been working at the Ministry of Finance, then at the Ministry of National Economy in senior positions since 1998. He had performed duties as deputy secretary of state for budget issues since 2010, and he has been secretary of state for public finances since 2014. He has been vice president of the Public Finance Section of the Hungarian Economic Association since 2017. Mr. Banai delivered numerous professional publications, primarily on EU budget related issues.
