Relationship between church and state: the past 30 years is the title of a presentation to be given by Iván  Platthy, retired honorary state secretary for ecclesiastical matters, in the FUGA Architectural Centre (Budapest district 5, Petőfi Sándor utca 5) at 4 p.m. on Friday, 12 April 2019. Mr. Platthy was invited by the Cultural Economy Unit of the Hungarian Economic Association, which celebrates the 125th anniversary of its foundation. The discussion will be moderated by economist and retired state secretary József  Gábor, member of the presidium of the unit.

Mr. Platthy will talk about the following topics: a legal framework guaranteeing the freedom of churches; problems arising from the changing organisation of coordination between the state and churches; quantitative and qualitative evolution of the social role of churches; as well as resolved and unresolved issues of the independent financing of churches.
