End of orthodoxy or beginning of a new normal?

Trump’s tariff policy and the redivision of the world – the end of orthodoxy or the beginning of a new normal? The Financial Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) is organizing a panel discussion with this title in cooperation with the MCC on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the MCC Scruton community space (1113 Budapest, Tas vezér utca 3-7) and on the HEA’s YouTube channel.

Participants in the roundtable discussion – Gyula Pleschinger, President of the HEA, former member of the Monetary Council of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank; Zoltán Pogátsa, Associate Professor at the University of Sopron, lecturer at ELTE and the University of Verona; Géza Sebestyén, associate professor at BCE, head of the MCC Center for Economic Policy, and Barnabás Virág, vice president of the Hungarian National Bank, member of the board of the MKT Competitiveness Section – will discuss, among other things, the possible economic effects of US customs policy and the transformation of the global financial architecture. The discussion will be moderated by Pál Péter Kolozsi, Deputy CEO of the Government Debt Management Agency and chair of the MKT’s Finance Section.
