Human Capital in the EU – this is the title of the professional roundtable discussion organized as a year-opening event by the Labour Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) on 5 February 2026 (Thursday) from 2:00 p.m. on Webex and on the HEA YouTube channel.
The introductory lecture of the event will be delivered by István Ábel, Professor at the Budapest Business University (BGE), Faculty of Finance and Accounting. The lecture is based on the joint study by István Ábel; Máté Lóga, Deputy State Secretary responsible for economic strategy, financial resources and macroeconomic analysis at the Ministry of National Economy; István Attila Szabó, CEO of Garantiqa Credit Guarantee Co. Ltd. and Master Instructor at the BGE Faculty of Finance and Accounting; and Orsolya Éva Tóth, PhD student at the Doctoral School of Business and Management of BGE, published in Pénzügyi Szemle under the title The competitiveness of the European Union in the light of human capital – what the Draghi report leaves out. Invited discussants: Magdolna Sass, Director of the Institute of World Economics at ELTE KRTK, and Gyula László, Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Pécs. Moderator: György Boda, Associate Professor Emeritus at Corvinus University of Budapest, Managing Partner at Boda & Partners Ltd., and member of the Board of the HEA Labour Section.
