Perspectives on European Integration

Perspectives on European Integration in Light of the Latest Challenges – Under this title, the Section IX of Economics and Law of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Theory of the Hungarian Economic Association, is organizing a professional conference as part of the MTA200 event series. The conference will take place on Thursday, 19 February 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m., in the Ceremonial Hall of the MTA Headquarters (1051 Budapest, Széchenyi István tér 9).

In the morning session of the conference, current challenges and perspectives of European integration will be discussed, while the afternoon session will focus on industrial policy as a particularly complex and timely area of public policy. Among the speakers at the conference will be, among others, Péter Halmai, Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and President of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Theory of the Hungarian Economic Association; László Csaba, Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; Zsolt Darvas, Senior Fellow at the Bruegel Institute; János Martonyi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Éva Voszka, Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; and Dóra Győrffy, Professor of Economics and member of the executive board of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Theory of the Hungarian Economic Association.
