A new era of industrial policy – what can we learn from the experiences of the V4? Under this title, the Industrial and Business Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) is organizing a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. at the HEA community space (ELTE ÁJK Building B, 1053 Budapest, Kecskeméti u. 10–12., 4th floor, room 403) and on the HEA YouTube channel.
The discussion on the industrial policy strategies of the countries of the Visegrád Four will examine the motivations and policy instruments of industrial policy, building on the methodology and findings of the New Industrial Policy Observatory (NIPO 2.0) database, complemented by considerations of implementation effectiveness. The conversation will also pay special attention to how the individual steps taken by the countries of the Visegrád Four fit into global industrial policy trends, and what competitiveness implications they may have for the countries of the region.
Participants in the discussion: Dorottya Szabó, researcher at the Enterprise Promotion Association; Tamás Tibor Csontos, research assistant at the Institute of World Economics of the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies (KRTK) and the University of Szeged; and Filip Puzder, Senior Manager for Government Incentives at EY Magyarország. The discussion will be moderated by László Kállay, Associate Professor at the Department of Entrepreneurship Development and Management of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Corvinus University of Budapest, and member of the Board of the HEA Industrial and Business Section. The participants will be welcomed by Miklós Kozma, MBA Program Director at Corvinus University of Budapest and President of the Section.
