Awakening from the inflationary shock – this is the title of the traditional annual conference organised by the Institute of Economics and Competitiveness of the National University of Public Service in cooperation with the Finance and Public Finance Sections of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA), in connection with the “Celebration of Hungarian Science” series of events, on Thursday, 9 November 2023, from 10:00 a.m. at the St. László Chapel of the main building of the National University of Public Service (1083 Budapest, Ludovika tér 2.).

The conference will be introduced by Márton Nagy, Minister of Economic Development. The introduction will be followed by two round table discussions. The participants of the panel “Can the light be seen?” are: Éva Hegedüs, CEO of GRÁNIT Bank, Secretary General of the HEA; András Balatoni, Director of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, member of the Board of the Economic Policy and Economic Theory Section of the HEA; Péter Halmai, academic, university professor, President of the Economic Theory Section of the HEA and Gábor Kutasi, Head of the Institute of Economics and Competitiveness of the National University of Public Services, member of the Board of the Public Finance Section of the HEA. The second round table discussion will focus on what inflation means for the labour market. The participants of this panel are Ádám Kósa, MEP; Ádám Balog, Vice President General of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President of the Central and Eastern European Section of the HEA; Csaba Lentner, Professor at the NKE and Piroska Szalai, labour market expert at the NKE.
