István Szabó, the founding president of the Innovation Section of the Hungarian Economic Association, was recently appointed Deputy CEO for Strategy and Innovation of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network.
István Szabó holds a PhD in the study of the potential for cooperation between research infrastructures and companies in Hungary. He was Deputy President for Science and International Affairs of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office between 2018 and 2023. He and Professor Magdolna Csath initiated the establishment of the Innovation Section of the HEA in February 2023.
