Green transition, but how? – Opportunities and barriers for the SME sector to switch to green energy. This is the title of an online roundtable discussion organised by the Hungarian Economic Association’s (HEA) Industry and Entrepreneurship Section on Monday 15 April 2024 from 14:00 on Webex and on the HEA’s YouTube channel.

Recently, several international projects with active Hungarian participation have been launched to support SMEs’ transition to green energy. However, Hungary does not yet have an institutionalised network like the one in Austria, which actively supports the SME sector’s transition to renewable energy sources. But then how and what will drive the sector, which is responsible for two thirds of employment, on the path to greening? This question will be answered by the panelists Márk Alföldy-Boruss, Deputy State Secretary for Energy Policy at the Ministry of Energy; Richárd Végh, CEO of the Budapest Stock Exchange, President of the Sustainability Section of the HEA; Csaba Ilcsik, President of the KEXPORT cluster, representative of the Association of Environmental Service Providers and Manufacturers and Mária Csutora, Professor, Director of the Research Centre for Sustainability Indicators at Corvinus University of Budapest, President of the Environmental Economics Section of HEA. The discussion will be moderated by László Szabó, Head of the Regional Energy Economics Research Centre.
