The Competitiveness Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) will organise a professional roundtable discussion on the latest MNB Competitiveness Report on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, from 10 am on the HEA’s YouTube channel. The keynote presentation will be given by Ákos Szalai, Head of the Competitiveness and Structural Analysis Department of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank. Participants of the roundtable are: Bianka Horváth, Senior Advisor to the Governor of the MNB; Zsolt Kuti, Chief Economist of the MNB; Zsolt Szalay, Associate Professor and Head of the Automated Drive Laboratory at BME; and Oszkár Zoltán Szántó, Deputy Vice-Rector for Research at Corvinus University of Budapest and Dean of the Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies. The discussion will be moderated by Gergely Baksay, Executive Director for Economic and Fiscal Analysis and Statistics of the MNB and President of the Competitiveness Section of the HEA.

The Competitiveness Report, which will be the subject of the discussion, draws attention to the need to shift the Hungarian growth model to a knowledge- and technology-driven growth model, which also takes environmental aspects into account.
