Will road transport costs increase inflation? This is the title of an online roundtable discussion organised by the Logistics Section of the Hungarian Economic Association (HEA) on Wednesday 6 March 2024 from 14:00 on Webex and on HEA’s YouTube channel.

Road transport costs rose well below inflation in 2023. However, the Road Transport Price Index (KFX) forecasts that transport costs could rise by up to five times inflation in 2024, which could put domestic inflation under pressure. Why might this significant cost pressure arise? What are the macroeconomic, oil and freight market components and how does this affect the economy? These questions will be answered by the speakers of the event: industry expert Ferenc Lajkó, Managing Director of DigiLog Consulting, President of the Logistics Section of HEA; István Madár, Senior Analyst at Portfolió.hu, Member of the Board of HEA and Tamás Pletser, EMEA Oil & Gas Analyst at Erste Befektetési Zrt.
